Three Thanksgiving Activities Your Preschool Child Will Love

Three Thanksgiving Activities Your Preschool Child Will Love at Kids 'R' Kids Oakbrook, preschool, daycare, childcare

Leaves are changing colors, pumpkins are popping up on every doorstep, and your preschooler is ready for some Thanksgiving fun! With these three festive and stress free activities, your child will get a chance to create, relax, and be thankful, while still giving you and your fellow parents the chance to roast that turkey perfectly.

First, get crafty with the décor! Both turkeys and pumpkins are two extremely familiar and fun symbols of Thanksgiving, never mind the fact that they both are super versatile and a perfect gateway to channel some vast creativity. Just as you are as excited to make Thanksgiving unique to your family, your child will be enthusiastic to make their crafts unique to them!

Second, the great thing about crafting during the holidays is the immense amount of options you have as a parent to make it easiest on you! Not so busy and only making the pie? Spend the afternoon decorating some turkey cupcakes! Stressed and your little one is bouncing off the walls with Thanksgiving hype? Give ‘em a cute mini pumpkin and some washable paint.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

  1. Handprint Turkeys – All you need is some festive paint, a few cheap, colorful feathers, and paper. Cover your little one’s hands in paint and make a handprint as the base of your turkey. Use any other paint colors to add feathers, eyes, and a beak. So simple!
  2. Turkey Cupcakes – What’s better than a cupcake? A cupcake decorated as a turkey! There are loads of cool ideas all over the internet- pick your desired challenge level and try not to eat all the sweet decorations!
  3. Pumpkin Painting – Another simple way of allowing your child to express their festive selves! Just add some polka dots orpaint the entire thing! Your neighbor’s will love to see both on your front porch.
