Cookie Recipes to Make with Your Preschooler

Cookie Recipes to Make with Your Preschooler at Kids 'R' Kids Missouri City, preschool, daycare, childcare

With the holiday season in full swing, now is the perfect time to make some memories with your preschooler. Allowing them to be creative with you in the kitchen is a perfect way to include them in the spirit of the season. Below are two easy cookie ideas to try together.

Reindeer Cookies

Ingredients: 1 cup each of softened butter, sugar, and smooth peanut butter; 2 eggs; 1 tsp vanilla; ½ tsp salt; 3 cups all-purpose flour; 2 tsp baking soda; mini pretzel twists; chocolate chips; red M&M’s

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Beat butter, sugar, peanut butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt together in a bowl until smooth and creamy. Stir flour and baking soda into creamed butter mixture until well incorporated.
  3. Roll dough into balls. Flatten each ball and shape into an upside-down triangle. Press two pretzels into the two top corners of each triangle for the antlers. Press two chocolate chips into the center of each triangle for the eyes, and one chocolate chip or M&M on the bottom of the triangle for the nose. Arrange cookies on baking sheets.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Ingredients: 1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour; ½ tsp salt; 1 tsp baking soda; ½ cup each softened butter, sugar, peanut butter, packed brown sugar; 1 beaten egg; 1 tsp vanilla extract; 2 T milk; 40 mini peanut butter cups, unwrapped

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda; set aside.
  2. Cream together the butter, sugar, peanut butter, and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and milk. Add the flour mixture; mix well. Shape into forty balls and place each into an ungreased mini muffin pan.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into each ball. Cool and carefully remove from the pan.

After you have finished your masterpieces, do not forget to grab a tall glass of milk, and enjoy eating them with your family and friends!
