Tips for Organizing Your Preschooler’s Room

Tips for Organizing Your Preschooler’s Room at Kids 'R' Kids Mableton, preschool, childcare, daycare

Preschoolers can often be quite unorganized. Their bedrooms can all too easily reveal this truth, creating an ongoing and dreaded chore for parents. With a bit of time invested on the front end, your preschooler’s room can not only become more organized but even stay organized with minimal daily effort.

Reduce

To help your preschooler have an organized room, it is important to begin with reducing your preschooler’s possessions. To begin with, periodically remove trash and ensure you are keeping on top of toys, books, and clothing that fit your preschooler. Once the room has been prepared, the real organization can begin, and the options are endless! Keep in mind, the easier it is for your preschooler to find an item, the easier it will be for him to return once he is done with it.

Types of Organizing Tools

Shoe organizers are versatile and due to the myriad of pockets can be used to maintain various toys. Barbies, craft supplies, hairpieces, Legos, super heroes, small stuffed animals, and various difficult items can be stored here. The higher pockets can also be used to store things that you prefer having control over.

Cleaned and painted coffee cans and cheese ball containers can also be good for organizing. They even come with lids! These can help contain balls, small figures or toys, and puzzle pieces. By placing a photo on the front, your preschooler should be able to correctly put his things away.

A bookshelf that holds fabric cubes can be very handy in a preschooler’s room. The options are endless on what could be contained in each cube. If a bookshelf is not practical, you could instead secure wooden or milk-style crates to the wall. Be sure to not put too much weight in any crate.

Enjoy the Result

Once each item in your preschooler’s room has a clearly identified place, you’ll be amazed how much time is saved during your daily clean up. You’ll find it is also much easier for your preschooler to put away his things on his own. With a bit of well-planned work up front, the dreaded chore of cleaning his room won’t be so dreaded any more.
