August is Family Fun Month and the perfect time to enjoy the last few weeks of summer before your child heads off to preschool! From days at the zoo, to swimming at the beach – we’ve got you covered when it comes to last-minute summer fun. Here are some exciting activities to make the most out of this great month.
Go to the zoo
The zoo is a great opportunity for your family to spend time together while also introducing a whole new world of animals to your little ones. Enjoy lions, and tigers, and bears (oh my!) and ask your child what his favorite animal is on the way home—it’ll be a day he never forgets. Be sure to find out ahead of time if there are any special requirements (wearing masks, capacity limits, etc.) or limited visiting hours before you head to your favorite zoo!
Fun in the sun
Once school starts, most local pools close, so take advantage of the summer while you still can! Another alternative to stay cool with the heat of summer is going to the beach- pack your sunblock and beach towels and spend a day teaching your little ones how to swim or make sandcastles. Poolside or on the beach is a great opportunity to grill out and fly a kite or play some ball.
Summer indoor fun
Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean your family can’t have fun indoors as well. On days when it’s just too hot, get creative indoors with living room camping. Make a pillow fort inside and watch movies with popcorn. You can even build a tent in the backyard and spend the night under the stars. Make s’mores and tell funny stories, and your kids will forget they’re in their own backyard.
