Your child’s preschool teacher will be the adult they spend the most time with, besides you. It’s important that your child feels comfortable and at ease around them. Getting to know your little one’s new teacher may seem like a daunting task at first, but it can definitely be a fun one! Try one of these tips in order to get to know them better!
Send a note
Handwritten cards go a long way. A great way to let your child’s teacher know you’re thinking about them is to write them an encouraging note for the first day of school. It doesn’t have to be long, but can simply state that you’re looking forward to your child being in their class this year. Hand it to your child to give to their new teacher when they get to their classroom on the first day of school.
Go to Meet the Teacher night
Odds are, your child’s preschool will have some sort of meet the teacher night. It’s important that you go to this and take your family with you! Spend time talking with the teacher and make sure you get her contact information. On the first day of school, you will feel more confident dropping your child off to someone that you know.
Offer to volunteer
Preschools always have a lot of volunteer opportunities. If your schedule allows, let your child’s teacher know that you’re willing and able to help out when needed. It will be nice for them to know that they can count on you when a party or event occurs.
Teachers have hard jobs, and it’s important that you take the time to get to know the person who will be educating your child all year. Showing them that you support them will give them more confidence to do their job and give you more confidence in your child being in their classroom!
