The Story of St. Valentine
Share the story of St. Valentine with your child to provide context for the holiday. St. Valentine was a man who was incredibly kind to everyone he met, despite less than ideal circumstances in his own life. The story of St. Valentine will teach your child the meaning of the holiday and help them remember the heart behind it!
Cookie Decorating
Cookie decorating is a classic favorite for Valentine’s day! One of our favorite ways to decorate cookies is to set up a decorating bar and then invite friends, family, or neighbors over. This activity becomes ten times more fun when shared with people who mean a lot to your child.
Homemade Valentines
If your child needs to bring valentines to school, consider making your own! You child will love getting to help and putting a personal touch on each valentine. Look online for some ideas or have your child help you come up with a clever idea on your own.
Kindness Jar
Provide your child with supplies to decorate a jar! This jar will become your family’s “Kindness Jar.” For the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, have your family put notes of kindness to each other in the jar. On February 14th, dump out the jar and have everyone take turns reading the notes. This is a sweet and special way to express love and gratitude to each other!
