Back to Preschool After Christmas Break

Heading Back to Preschool After Christmas Break

Heading back to preschool after spending time at home for the holidays can be nerve-wracking and overwhelming for your child and your family. However, your little one will be full of excitement when they remember all of the fun activities and opportunities their preschool offers. It is crucial to focus on this excitement and positivity when taking on the role of making sure your child is comfortable with going back to preschool.

The first important duty as a parent in ensuring your preschooler is comfortable with starting school again is to re-introduce a schedule to them. Remind them what will be happening during the week, including how they will get to school, what they’ll be doing there, and when they will get home. Knowing what to expect will help to relieve any hesitance or uneasiness.

The second important thing to do is to talk about your child’s feelings. Whether it is excitement or concern, talking about these emotions with them will create a feeling of trust that you understand. Also reassure them that there are teachers and staff at their school that will help them and keep them safe need be.

And lastly, point out the positive, happy things about going back to school. Thesethings can include seeing their friends and learning new things that they are interested in. You know your child better than anyone, so include even more detailed aspects that are unique to their personality that will add to their comfort. You can sense how your child is feeling about going back to school more than anyone- depend on that keen sense and everything will be just fine.
