Celebrating Mother’s Day with Preschoolers

Mother’s Day is such a special time to celebrate the hardworking moms in our life, and there are lots of ways to include your preschoolers in Mom’s special day! While we can give you lots of options to spend quality time with Mom, check with your partner or the Mom in your life to see if she might like a little private time to herself, too! Here are some great ideas to involve your preschooler in celebrating Mother’s Day:

Get in the kitchen!

Breakfast in bed is a classic Mother’s Day tradition to give Mom the morning off on this special Sunday. Let your preschoolers help assemble the perfect breakfast in bed tray by letting them assist with easy, safe cooking tasks (cracking and stirring eggs, being on watch for the toaster to pop, making the fruit look pretty on the plate, etc.) or let them draw and color cards for Mom to put on the tray.

Go outside and take it slow.

If the weather is nice, as it tends to be on this early spring holiday, take the whole family outdoors and go for a long nature walk. Ahead of time, tell your preschoolers to be on the lookout for wildflowers, beautiful rocks, or other pretty things in nature that they can collect for Mom. Taking along a picnic basket and blanket is another great idea that keeps Mom from having to cook!

Special cuddle time

This will always make Mom feel loved by the people who are most important to her. Make sure each child gets some one-on-one time with Mom for stories, cuddles, or even a short adventure.

No matter what you choose to do, the Mom in your life will feel so special just being loved thoughtfully and intentionally by her preschoolers and her family!
