Tips for Celebrating “National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month” with Your Preschooler

June is “National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month,” and it’s the perfect time to get your preschooler excited about eating a colorful, healthy diet! With tons of delicious and nutritious options, there are plenty of ways to celebrate this month with your little one. Here are a few fun ideas for celebrating and enjoying fresh fruits and veggies:

Make healthy snacks

Get creative in the kitchen with your preschooler by making healthy snacks together. Try slicing up some fresh fruit or veggies and making a fruit and veggie platter! Or, whip up a smoothie filled with all their favorite fruits and veggies.

Plant a garden

Planting a garden is a great way to get your preschooler involved in the process of growing their own food. Your preschooler will love getting elbow deep in the dirt, and spending that quality time with you planting seeds! Plant some of their favorite fruits and veggies, and watch their excitement as they watch them grow.

Read a book

Cuddle up with your preschooler and read a new book with them! We recommend these fruits and veggies themed titles – “Fruits and Veggies Galore” by Ellen Javernick, “Fruits and Vegetables Everywhere” by Gail Gibbons, and the classic “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.

Celebrating “National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month” with your preschooler is a great way to teach your child about the importance of eating healthy! With a little bit of creativity, you can make it fun for both of you.
