Out-of-the-Box Gifts to Give Your Preschooler

Out-of-the-Box Gifts to Give Your Preschooler at Kids 'R' Kids Keller, preschool, daycare, childcare

Does your preschooler play with their new toys once or twice and then get bored with them? Do you find pieces and parts all over the house? You may be feeling like your preschooler already has too many toys, and you are not too excited about purchasing more toys for Christmas. You might want to consider one of these outside-the-toybox gifts.

Memberships

For a gift that does not take up any space in the toy box, consider getting an annual or seasonal pass to a local museum, aquarium, theme park, science center, or zoo. Your family can enjoy this gift for several months or even an entire year. You may still want your preschooler to open something on Christmas day besides tickets, so try to think of something they can use. Does your preschooler love the zoo? You could wrap a miniature animal or stuffed toy, an animal board game, or a vet play set to go with the tickets.

Sports Gear

Whenever your child first signs up for a sport, purchasing all of the equipment can be expensive. Many preschoolers begin playing sports such as soccer or baseball at this age. Check what sports are available in your area after the new year, and then you can give the gear as a gift for Christmas.

A New Hobby

What interests does your preschooler have? Do they love art? Sign them up for a painting class and give them some art supplies as a gift. Does your preschooler enjoy being outdoors? Plan a day hike or even an overnight camping trip. You could give a large gift like a tent or a smaller gift like binoculars or a nature kit they can use outdoors. Maybe your family takes up a new hobby like fishing or gardening. The possibilities are endless!

Non-Toys

You do not always have to leave the house to have an out-of-the-toybox experience. Board games, puzzles, and books are always fun and can be tailored to your preschoolers’ preferences. You can also design a themed basket. For example, a movie night basket could include a copy of the movie, some themed pajamas, and movie snacks.
