As preschoolers grow it is necessary for them to establish a bedtime routine characterized by healthy sleeping habits, comfort, and happiness. Establishing this kind of important schedule is often easier said than done as the craziness of life can sometimes get in the way. These three tips will give you the courage to not let any hectic nights stand in your way of creating the perfect bedtime routine for your child.
Watch the clock
One of the most crucial factors in any kind of routine is timing, especially when it comes to your child’s sleep schedule. Enough sleep is a part of healthy lifestyle and it is extremely important that your little one consistently goes to sleep early enough. Part of the way in which you can make sure this happens is to begin their routine at the same time every night!
Bath, brush, book, bed
Your child’s routine should be mainly defined by the Four B’s! Start with bath time and brushing their teeth, making baths fun and brushing their teeth rewarding. Follow by reading a book–a perfect way to spend quality time with your child and helping them to wind down for the night. And finally, sleep! Goodnight hugs and kisses are always a perk.
Comfort is key
Think about your bedtime routine and the daily things you do to feel comfortable. Your child also needs their own sense of comfort, and whether reading the same book every night does the trick, or spending an extra two minutes snuggling with them, ensuring their comfort will always lead them to sleep better.
