The sun is out, the flowers are blooming, and the birds of chirping! These are all signs of spring and Keep America Beautiful Month. Your preschooler can finally let out that energy they’ve been storing this winter season and play outside. This is the perfect season to teach your child about gardening. Spring has officially sprung, so let’s get gardening!
Shopping for Seeds
Teach your kiddo all about the gardening process by starting with the first step – purchasing the flower or vegetable seeds. Go to a local nursery or even the dollar store to find some seeds. These are very cheap and come in lots of different options. You and your child can grow tulips, sunflowers, and some tomatoes together if you so desire! The options are endless.
Planting Time
Now that you’ve selected your perfect choice of flowers and vegetables, it’s time to start planting. It might be a good idea to buy your preschooler child-sized gardening gloves and plastic tools. You don’t want to risk your child playing with large metal tools such a shovel, so please consider purchasing a kid-friendly gardening kit. This is a fun educational opportunity to teach your kids the basics of gardening. Your child will be so proud when they have some pretty flowers and yummy veggies!
Fresh Blooms
The time has finally come, and your flowers are fully grown! Your preschooler is beyond excited and is so happy that they were able to help garden with you. You can either pick the flowers or keep them in your garden to enjoy during the springtime. These flowers will be a great gift for your child’s preschool teachers, grandma, and neighbors! You can also cut up those vegetables and make some delicious healthy snacks for the whole family to enjoy.
