It is almost time to say goodbye to summer. Though it is hard to believe, it is almost time for your preschooler to start a new school year! Below are four ways to help say farewell to summer with your preschooler.
Have a stay-up-late night.
Before the school year is just a week away, you can have a stay-up-late night with your preschooler. Fun ideas include watching a movie and eating popcorn, or building a living room fort and having a camp out. The “what” does not matter; the joy will be your child having a chance to spend quality time with you before the busy school year starts (and when bedtimes may get much earlier).
Take a teddy bear around town together.
Does your preschooler have a favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal? You can plan any fun stops around town, while your preschooler and favorite stuffed animal go along for the ride. Then, at any of these stops, you can all get out and take some fun pictures.
Use the library for a variety of free fun.
Whether your library has any last-minutes summer shows, or if you find the perfect movie to check out, enjoy your public library’s free resources. You may even find an ideal back-to-school children’s book to help gear up your preschooler for the new school year.
Play in water!
Playing in water does not mean you must take your preschooler around town to have water fun. Water spray bottles for “cleaning” the front door or mailbox or crushing ice outside with a mallet will be fun events for your preschooler.
As summer leaves and the school year soon will gear up, you can hold onto the many memories that were made. Those are things to smile about.
