Quick & Easy Dinner Ideas For You and Your Preschooler

Cooking with your preschooler can be a fun and educational activity that can help teach them important skills such as measuring ingredients and following recipes. It can also be a great way to bond and spend quality time together! Here are three quick and easy dinner ideas that you can make with your preschooler:

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup

This classic comfort food is a favorite among kids and adults alike. To make it, you’ll need bread, cheese, and tomato soup. Have your preschooler help you butter the bread and put the cheese between the slices. Then, have them assist you in placing the sandwiches in a preheated pan or on a griddle! While the sandwiches are cooking, open a can of tomato soup and heat it up on the stove. Once the sandwiches are golden brown and the soup is hot, you’re ready to serve!

Quesadillas

Quesadillas are a simple and tasty option that your preschooler can help assemble. All you’ll need is tortillas, cheese, and any fillings you’d like (such as diced chicken, veggies, or beans). Have your preschooler help you sprinkle the cheese and other fillings onto one tortilla, then place another tortilla on top. Have them assist you in heating a pan over medium heat and placing the quesadilla in the pan. Once the bottom tortilla is crispy and the cheese is melted, flip the quesadilla and cook the other side. Cut into wedges and serve with sour cream, salsa, or other dips.

Spaghetti and Meatballs

Spaghetti and meatballs is another family-friendly dinner that your preschooler can help make! Have them assist you in mixing together ground meat, breadcrumbs, and an egg to form meatballs. Then, have them help you roll the meatballs into balls and place them on a baking sheet. While the meatballs are cooking in the oven, have your preschooler help you boil a pot of water and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Serve the spaghetti with the meatballs and your choice of marinara sauce.

Cooking with your preschooler can be a fun and rewarding experience. Not only will you be able to spend quality time together, but your preschooler will also learn valuable skills that will benefit them for years to come. With these three quick and easy dinner ideas, you can have a delicious meal on the table in no time!
