Cold Weather Preschool Activities

Cold Weather Preschool Activities at Kids 'R' Kids Greatwood, preschool, daycare, childcare

The holiday season is full of festivities, family, and a lot of time spent inside cozying up with your preschooler! Being stuck inside in the winter months can be a bit overwhelming, but it is a great time to spend together and make family memories!

Here are three ideas as to how you can transform that cabin fever into a wonderful bonding experience with your child.

Singin’ and Dancin’

Being stuck indoors can definitely bring down the morale of your household. However, music and dance are two positive mental stimulants that are bound to bring joy to you and your preschooler. Whether you are Mozart himself or far from being any kind of musically inclined, there is something for you in this category. Instruments (keyboards, recorders, tambourines, etc.) are perfectly simple and preschooler-friendly options.

Don’t have any instruments? Crank up the radio or any form of music player and have a sing-a-long! And what would music be without a little dance party? Bust out your moves and encourage your child to do the same! They might even surprise you with some unique choreography.

Food

Not only does cooking and baking yummy meals or treats coincide perfectly with the holiday season, it is also another way to keep your preschooler entertained. There are tons of baked goods that are preschooler friendly, especially desserts that can include fun, artsy frosting or designs created by your child himself. These are definitely picture worthy moments that you will want to look back on in the future.

Imagination is Key

This is where you, as a parent, also get to be a preschooler again. Set up your family’s own bowling lane down a hallway, with empty water bottles and that annoying bouncy ball that you keep meaning to hide. Missing the summer sun? Have a picnic indoors with homemade sandwiches and a blanket. Letting your child’s imagination run wild is truly key with creating your own fun activities like these, so don’t be afraid to try new things. If one thing fails, you can always dance it out.
