It is important to be a role model of giving and charity for your preschooler, so they learn the value of helping others. When your preschooler sees you giving your time, money, or talents to those in need, they’ll be more likely to do the same. Teaching them the importance of giving back will instill in them a sense of compassion and responsibility that will last a lifetime. Below are a few ways you can give back to your community and simultaneously teach your kids the value of kindness:
Volunteering
One way to give back to your community is by volunteering. You can volunteer at a local soup kitchen, food bank, or homeless shelter. By volunteering, you’ll be teaching your kids the importance of giving back to those in need. Not to mention, you’ll also be instilling in them a sense of compassion.
Donating
Another way to give back to your community is by donating to a local charity. You can donate clothes, food, or money to a local charity of your choice. This is a win-win option, as you and your child will also be able to clean out your house of items you no longer need, and find a new home for them.
Fundraising
A third way to give back to your community is by participating in a local fundraiser. You can participate in a walk, run, or bake sale. In addition to being effective ways to give back, these methods also provide the opportunity to meet new friends in a pleasant environment.
By volunteering, donating, or participating in a fundraiser, you will be instilling your preschooler with a sense of compassion and responsibility. What’s more, you’ll be enriching both of your lives with gratitude!
