Travel Tips for Summer Trips with Preschoolers

travel tips

If you are able to travel with your preschoolers, it really is an awesome opportunity. Preschoolers are so curious, and that makes visiting a new place extra fun and exciting. However, traveling with preschoolers can come with stress and challenges. Try out our travel tips to help minimize stress and maximize fun.

Choose a Destination Carefully

When deciding where to take your children, make sure safety is a top priority. After that, think about whether the area is stroller-friendly, and brainstorm the different activities that are available for children.

Consider Housing Options

Deciding where to stay is the next big decision after you choose where to go! Pick a place that will be a comfortable home base for your family after a long day of traveling or exploring. The change in routine can be tough on kids, but a place that feels somewhat like home can help. Many families are starting to choose Airbnb’s over hotels because they are typically larger and have a kitchen, too!

Pack Activities

Not to add another thing to an already long packing list, but don’t forget to pack some new and fun activities for your children! If these activities are new or special, they will be extra helpful in keeping your preschoolers occupied while traveling to and from your destination. Tablets with educational apps, board books, and water reveal coloring books are some of our favorite options!

Keep It Simple

Breaking out of normal routine and going on a trip is always fun, but ditching the routine usually means you’ll also need to prepare for the unexpected. Don’t try to overcomplicate traveling with preschoolers. Go for a simple packing list, simple transit plan, and simple but interesting activities for your family. Try your best to focus on creating fun memories spent with family!

Use these tips to help reduce the stress of traveling with preschoolers. Keep in mind that the effort is totally worth it for how much fun you and your family will have making memories together in a new place!
