How to Introduce Your Preschooler to Charity

How to Introduce Your Preschooler to Charity at Kids 'R' Kids of Bella Terra, Preschool. Childcare, daycare

There are countless ways to get involved in your community and make a difference in the lives of others, but one of the most rewarding experiences is volunteering with your kids. Here are three great ways to volunteer with kids and make a lasting impact:

Make Your Own Bake Sale

Having a bake sale is a great way to raise money for charity and involve your preschooler in the process. Talk to your preschooler about why you’re doing a bake sale and who you’re helping. This will get them excited about the project and motivated to sell as many treats as possible. Make it a team effort and involve them in the baking process. Let them help measure ingredients, stir the batter, and decorate the finished product. Set up your bake sale in a high-traffic area with a sign that clearly states what the proceeds will go towards.

Find Some Furry Friends

Volunteering at a local dog shelter is a great way to spend time with your preschooler and help out some furry friends in need! There are a variety of tasks volunteers can do, from walking dogs and cleaning cages, to clerical work and fundraising. You and your preschooler can pick a task that you’re both comfortable with and make a difference in the lives of some deserving pups.

Clean Out That Closet

One of the best ways to teach kids the concept of gratitude is by showing them that it’s not always about receiving things. Helping them to declutter their toy box and donate their old toys to charity is a great way to do this. Not only will they learn the value of giving to others, but they’ll also see that letting go of things can be liberating. And who knows– they may even find a new appreciation for the toys they still have.

Offering time and effort to help others is positive for both you and your child. Studies show that those who give the most are also the happiest. Kids will follow the example you set for them, so use your own actions today to help your child grow into a gratuitous adult!
