However, there are many easy ways to prepare your preschooler for the big change in his life that is coming. Here are some simple steps you can take to get your child not only ready, but also excited to start preschool.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be organized<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From putting it on a calendar to writing on a whiteboard, or even putting sticky notes around the house, the more you write things down, the more prepared you will be. And, the more prepared you are, the more comfortably your child will transition when school starts. Start creating a weekly calendar filled with your child\u2019s new schedule and activities. Make a list of groceries you need to buy and make reminders for yourself of the things you normally swear you\u2019ll remember. After doing these things, you\u2019ll feel a lot less stressed and that you\u2019re constantly forgetting something. Implementing a level of structure and organization into your family\u2019s life a few weeks beforehand will aid in helping the whole house feel less like a huge life change is occurring.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Start your new schedule early<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Just because school hasn\u2019t started yet doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t begin to get your child acquainted with his new routine. If you wait until the night before his first day to put him to bed earlier than normal, he won\u2019t be able to sleep well, and he may also resist or even resent this new change. Start early, and, if you don\u2019t already, put your little one to bed at the time you would begin bedtime once school started. This way, you have some time to adjust. By the time school starts, he\u2019ll be adjusted to his new sleep cycle and will be well rested for his first day.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Start talking about school now<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One of the biggest adjustments in a child\u2019s life when he begins school is mental\/emotional. Don\u2019t get so busy trying to get lunches and carpools in order that you forget to truly sit down with your preschooler and talk to him about what to expect. The more familiar the concept of preschool is before his first day, the better. Let him ask questions and regularly bring up all the fun new things he\u2019ll get to do once he starts school.
