Importance of Preschool Apps Child Utilizing Technology for Brain Development

Technology plays a significant role in the way in which we approach education today. Preschool classrooms are investing in mobile devices and interactive whiteboard technology with increasingly encouraging results. Did you know that you can implement similar strategies at home with your preschool child? There are a huge number of free and for-purchase apps available across a number of operating systems that cater to toddlers and preschoolers.

Handwriting without Tears: Wet, Dry, Try Capital Letters and Numbers – iPad and iPhone

This app utilizes the techniques employed by the Handwriting without Tears curriculum. This digital version teaches your preschool child to form letters and numbers using a simulation of a chalk board with lines. While it does not quite replicate writing on a piece of paper, unless your child is using a stylus, it still effectively teaches your child how to correctly form numbers and letters.

Farm 123 Free – iPad and iPhone

This app takes the form of an electronic pop-up book and teaches your child how to count. The nice thing about this app is that it does not allow your preschooler to count an object more than once. The game is visually appealing and is easy to understand making it suitable for toddlers as young as three-years-old. You can purchase other games within this offering but the pop-up book is free.

Read Me Stories – Android, iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch

Read Me Stories adds a new children’s eBook every day. The app works similarly to karaoke with a voice reading the story to your child highlighting each word as it is read, making it easy for your preschooler to read along.

Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of University Center in Lawrenceville has successfully incorporated a number of different electronic devices into our preschool classrooms. Get in touch with us today to learn more.
