{"id":96000000237,"date":"2021-03-02T16:43:05","date_gmt":"2021-03-02T16:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kidsrkids.com\/tomball\/?p=96000000237"},"modified":"2021-03-02T16:43:05","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T16:43:05","slug":"helping-your-preschooler-develop-healthy-sleep-habits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kidsrkids.com\/tomball\/2021\/03\/02\/helping-your-preschooler-develop-healthy-sleep-habits\/","title":{"rendered":"Helping Your Preschooler Develop Healthy Sleep Habits"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-image wp-image--no-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-96000000238 \" src=\"https:\/\/kidsrkids.com\/tomball\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/96\/2021\/03\/sleep-habits.jpg\" alt=\"Helping Your Preschooler Develop Healthy Sleep Habits at Kids 'R' Kids Tomball, preschool, daycare, childcare\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><\/figure><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is no secret that preschoolers have tons of energy.\u00a0 At the end of the day, you are probably totally drained of all energy, but your little one is ready to play for hours.\u00a0 It is important to build healthy sleep habits at a young age.\u00a0 We don\u2019t want to send our little geniuses off to preschool sleepy and cranky, right?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Create a Calm Environment<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Turn your child\u2019s room into a serene oasis.\u00a0 Pull the curtains closed, turn out the lights, and turn on soothing music.\u00a0 Pull the sheets and blankets back and add their favorite stuffed animal to their bed.\u00a0 If you want to turn up the spa-factor, you can use some lavender essential oils for added relaxation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Provide Wind Down Time<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Try not to spring the words, \u201cIt\u2019s bedtime\u201d on your child.\u00a0 This will likely result in resistance.\u00a0 Instead give a thirty minute and ten minute warning.\u00a0 At the thirty minute warning, suggest a calm activity to engage in to avoid your little one getting amped up before bedtime.\u00a0 This will help her brain wind down and signal to her body it is time to get ready for sleep.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bedtime Routine<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Children feel safer when they are able to count on a routine.\u00a0 Having a set bedtime and routine will help your preschooler feel safe and calm down for bed more easily.\u00a0 A bedtime routine should be a calm time and the focus is preparing for sleep.\u00a0 At least thirty minutes before bedtime, power down all stimulating devices, including phones, tablets, computers, and televisions. Provide your little one with a light, healthy snack and allow him to choose which pajamas and stuffed animal are necessary for tonight.\u00a0 Bathtime may come next and then brushing teeth.
