Here are some ways to help your preschooler be a better friend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sharing<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A huge step for children in becoming a good friend is learning how to share. If you\u2019re supervising a play-date or if your little one has siblings, encourage your child to share her toy or game if she seems to be keeping to herself. Once your child realizes how much fun she can have with others, the sharing should become a regular habit that quickly creates new friendships.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taking turns<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Along with sharing comes taking turns\u2014it\u2019s all about learning how to think of others at this age. Many children also need prompting when it comes to this task. Merely remind your child that taking turns is a necessity for continuing her game, especially if she gets fussy or stubborn. Discipline also comes into play when helping your child be a good friend\u2014if your preschooler refuses to share or take turns, you may have to take her toy or game away for a while until she is willing to comply.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Asking what others want to do<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Having your child ask her friends certain questions like \u201cWhat do you want to play now?\u201d is sure to help her be a good friend and classmate. Being willing to do something else and ask about other\u2019s desires teaches her to think of others and also opens up doors to new experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Saying sorry<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teach your child that good friends apologize if they\u2019ve made a mistake or hurt someone\u2019s feelings. It\u2019s never too early to demonstrate to your child how to make a proper apology.
