Follow a few simple tips, and in no time your preschooler will be a little chef in the making.

Find easy recipes to make with your preschooler.

One of the most important tips to make baking time fun is to find simple recipes that are easy to finish. Start with three-ingredient peanut butter cookies, and try to let your preschooler do as much as possible. Delegate and show, but try not to take over. If you feel like you need to take over, find a simpler recipe. You’ll make a big mess, but that’s okay! You can teach your little one how to clean right after you teach them how to bake.

Let them do the measuring and mixing.

You can say things like “Fill up this measuring cup with peanut butter, then dump it in this bowl!” Use dishes and measuring cups that are not fragile, and don’t be afraid to let your little one fail. Learning is what makes life fun! If you just don’t feel comfortable letting your preschooler measure and mix, then let them decorate premade cookies and cupcakes, or drizzle icing onto cinnamon rolls. There is always something that little hands can help with!

Find no-bake recipes for your preschooler.

Pinterest is full of child-friendly baking options that don’t require an oven. No-bake cookies call for oats, peanut butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and few more simple household ingredients. All you need to do is mix them together, then drop them on a cookie sheet and put them into the freezer to solidify. Other options are fruit salad, or maybe some microwavable muffins made in a coffee mug. Time in the kitchen with preschoolers is fun with just a little preparation and a whole lot of love.

If you enjoyed this blog and want to read more, click below for our blog from last month!
Summer Safety Tips

Want to learn more about Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of Tomball located in Tomball, Texas?
