Focus Games<\/span><\/h4>\n

Games are a great way to increase attention span.\u00a0 Your preschooler will need to track turns, dice rolls, and moves while playing board games.\u00a0 Through simple games, such as <\/span>I Spy with My Little Eye<\/span><\/i> or <\/span>Simon Say<\/span><\/i>s, your child will be required to listen for descriptions or directions to participate in the game.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Limit Screen Time<\/span><\/h4>\n

It is difficult to completely avoid screen time in today\u2019s society.\u00a0 However, it has been proven that too much screen time can damage a child\u2019s attention span.\u00a0 Shows created for children are typically brightly colored and contain fast paced music and movement.\u00a0 Over time your preschooler\u2019s brain will adapt to processing information at that fast pace and have difficulty processing information provided in a natural setting.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Read\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Reading with your child not only helps build her attention span, but also builds her vocabulary, fuels her imagination, and strengthens the bond between you and your preschooler.\u00a0 If your preschooler struggles to sit through longer stories, read a portion of the story, stop for a brain break, and then finish the story.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Healthy Habits<\/span><\/h4>\n

Providing your preschooler with a variety of healthy foods, physical activity, and a healthy sleep schedule can help him perform at his highest levels.\u00a0 Focus on foods that fuel your preschooler\u2019s mind and body, such as those mentioned <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 Incorporate plenty of opportunities for your preschooler to be physically active, so he isn\u2019t antsy when completing an activity.\u00a0 Take breaks during longer activities for your preschooler to move around and get his wiggles out.\u00a0 Adhering to a daily routine with a specific bedtime and wake time will help your preschooler know what to expect and adjust to activities more quickly and assure he gets plenty of sleep.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
