Turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie… Oh my! Your preschooler may understand what we eat on Thanksgiving, but do they know the true reason we celebrate? Here are some helpful tips for making the most of this holiday with your little one.<\/span><\/p>\n

History of Thanksgiving<\/span><\/h3>\n

In 1621, the Pilgrims and Native Americans came together to celebrate their harvest. They ate fish, local berries, and venison and enjoyed their bounty over a period of three days. Thanksgiving became a national holiday in 1863 and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November each year!<\/span><\/p>\n

Festive Activities<\/span><\/h3>\n

Make this Thanksgiving the best ever by trying one of these activities with your family:<\/span><\/p>\n

Create a homemade tablecloth!\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Instead of putting out your best placemats for your Thanksgiving meal this year, grab some brown butcher paper and let your preschooler help you make personalized place settings. Help your preschooler write reasons they\u2019re thankful for each person in attendance on the paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bake a few extra pies to take to your local retirement community!\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Help your preschooler understand the meaning of giving back by blessing others with some sweet treats.\u00a0<\/span>Give back and <\/span>give thanks with your preschooler<\/span><\/a> this year.<\/span><\/p>\n
