All About Halloween With Your Preschooler!

halloween with your preschooler

October is here, which means it’s time to get in the spooky spirit! Halloween is around the corner, but that doesn’t mean you have to resign to the same old traditions when it comes to celebrating this festive holiday with your preschooler. Check out these festive options for celebrating all month long!

Explore haunting stories

One way to spend your child’s pre-trick-or-treating hours (or in the event of inclement weather) is to stay indoors for a night of (kid-friendly) spooky stories. The internet is full of ghost stories and legends that are still appropriate for the youngsters. Encourage your child to explore classics such as Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow!

Decorate a Candy Bag

A fun and useful Halloween craft is having your child make a bag for their Halloween candy! Find a plain white gift bag or use a brown paper grocery bag. Provide your preschooler with some art supplies and let them be creative! Some great decorating supplies are markers, Halloween stickers, cut out shapes, or glitter glue.

Host a Halloween Party

Hosting a Halloween party is a fun way for your child to spend time with their friends or family on a holiday! This is a great substitute to trick-or-treating if your child gets frightened easily or if you aren’t yet comfortable with your child going. Use the party as an excuse to make Halloween themed decorations and snacks! Our favorites are jack-o-lanterns or cookies decorated like candy corn.

We hope these fun activities will make your Halloween this year extra special! You and your family are sure to create lasting memories that your children will talk about all year long.
