There are seemingly endless things we need to do to keep our babies safe. It feels extra overwhelming when we hear and read things that contradict each other! Keep reading for the most important baby safety tips every parent needs to know.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1. \u00a0 \u00a0 Safe Sleeping<\/span><\/h4>\n

Whether you choose a crib for your baby or co-sleeping, engage in safe sleeping practice for your baby. In a crib, lay your baby on their back with nothing in the crib except a tight fitted sheet around the mattress. For co-sleeping, make sure there is nothing near the baby, like pillows and blankets, that they could get wrapped up in.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. \u00a0 \u00a0 Proper Car Seat Use and Installation<\/span><\/h4>\n

To ensure your infant\u2019s safety, install the car seat according to the manual that comes with it. Once you buckle your child in, make sure the straps are snugly in place. A good rule of thumb is that the straps are tight enough that you can only fit one finger between the car seat straps and your baby. The cross piece of the car seat should be at the same level as your baby\u2019s armpit.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. \u00a0 \u00a0 Plug Outlets and Remove Cords<\/span><\/h4>\n

Before your baby begins crawling, plug all of the electrical outlets in your home! Even if you don\u2019t plan on your baby going in every room, it is better to be safe than sorry. To make sure you don\u2019t miss any of your outlets, walk the perimeter of each room in your home. After you plug the outlets, make sure to remove any cords within reach of your baby. They can grab onto things sooner than you think.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
