Your preschooler may very well be curious about where the idea of Thanksgiving all started, and just where Pilgrims and Native Americans come into the mix. Ultimately, the story of Thanksgiving is pretty simple, and will be worth diving into in order to explain the holiday and the importance of caring for others. Put Family First<\/span><\/h3>\n

After all the questions have been answered and you\u2019ve probably made a toy bow and arrow or two, then you can take the opportunity to talk about why people are thankful at Thanksgiving. Tell your child the things that you are thankful for in your life \u2013 them, the house, the dog, the country you live in. The most important thing is that you are spending time together as a family, if they can say something that they are grateful for then that\u2019s just a plus!<\/span><\/p>\n

Make Traditions That Last<\/span><\/h3>\n

Don\u2019t feel pressure to have the picture perfect Thanksgiving. Not everyone has the perfect sitcom family, and that\u2019s more than enough reason to be different! Whatever Thanksgiving is for you, own that and make it your preschooler\u2019s as well. Traditions are what you make them, and anything that your child gets to do together with you will be worthwhile. Whether that is having the family over for a big meal or simply sitting around in your pajamas watching football, you will be helping your preschooler build lasting memories of Thanksgiving!<\/span><\/p>\n
