April 22<\/span>nd<\/span> is Earth Day! This is a great and natural opportunity to talk about the earth and taking care of it. In addition to teaching your child to reduce, reuse and recycle, try out our Earth Day ideas below.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trash Collection<\/span><\/h4>\n

Encourage your child to spend a little extra time outside on Earth Day. A great way to do this is to take a walk and collect trash along the way. Sadly, many of the bike paths and even national forests around our neighborhoods are littered with trash. Make sure to wear gloves and watch your child closely as there could be glass or other items you want to avoid. Consider bringing two bags along, one for trash and one for recycling. Your child will love feeling like they\u2019ve made a difference!<\/span><\/p>\n

Balloon Painting<\/span><\/h4>\n

To begin this activity, you will need to blow up a balloon and tie it. Blow it up small so it\u2019s a good size for your child to hold. Then squirt a little blue paint and green paint on a paper plate. Have your child dip the balloon into the paint and stamp it on cardstock, creating mini earths! Let them get creative with this. Your child might want to create one huge earth, or use different colors and make all the planets, presenting a great opportunity for you to teach them about the difference between earth and the other planets in the solar system.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dirt Cups<\/span><\/h4>\n

Wrap up Earth Day with a fan favorite snack \u2013 dirt cups! Make or buy chocolate pudding and put a few spoonfuls into small cups. Then, place oreos into a plastic bag and crush them with your hands or a rolling pin. Sprinkle the oreo crumbs on top of the pudding and finish by adding a few gummy worms!<\/span><\/p>\n

Take advantage of Earth day with these fun activities! This is a great chance to teach our children to celebrate, appreciate, and be mindful of our planet and the nature around us.<\/span><\/p>\n
