There’s a whole new world to be discovered that preschoolers don’t normally see, and that’s the ocean with all its animals! Since preschoolers are such amazing explorers naturally, activities that teach them about the ocean will be extra fun.<\/p>\n
Do an Ocean Animal Movement Game<\/span><\/h2>\n
The ocean animal movement game is a super fun, hands-on, interactive game where all you need are participants! Have your little ones stand in a circle while you call out an ocean animal that they can mimic using motion. For instance, call out, “Move like a shark!” and watch as your youngsters imitate sharks using their hands as fins, swimming around, and maybe even swimming after each other like prey and predator. Another one could be you calling out “Move like a dolphin!” and watching as your preschoolers jump around like dolphins breaching the water.<\/p>\n

Ocean in a bottle is a wonderful sensory activity that will keep your preschooler captivated even long after you’re done making it! All you need is:<\/p>\n
\n
An empty, clear bottle & lid<\/li>\n
Water<\/li>\n
Blue or green food dye<\/li>\n
Oil (Like vegetable, canola oil, or mineral oil)<\/li>\n
Small doo-dads like tiny craft shells and underwater animals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Take the empty bottle and pour water into it, filling the bottle up about two-thirds. Add a couple of drops of blue or green (or both!) food dye into the water. Place the lid back on and give it a good shake. Remove the lid again and fill the water portion with small ocean animals and shells. Once complete, fill the last one-third of the bottle with oil, screw the lid back on tightly and give the bottle a good shake!<\/p>\n
The oil will remain separated from the water so that the doo-dads stay floating in only the water portion. Shaking the bottle is a great lesson on waves, and watching the animals float in the water is a great lesson on buoyancy.<\/p>\n

Paper bag jellyfish are easy to make and fun to play with! All you need are paper bags, paints, crayons, or markers, craft eyeballs, glue, and scissors! Before opening the paper bag, lay it out flat on the table with the bottom of the bag as the top, and have your preschooler color it any way she chooses. She is free to color it however she’d like, whether she wants the top to be one color and the tentacles to be another. Or, she can mix colors to make a rainbow jellyfish! Once the bag is colored, glue the eyeballs on the head part of the jellyfish (bottom of the bag). Finally, take the scissors to cut slits along the bottom of the jellyfish to make its tentacles. Viola! A paper bag jellyfish!<\/p>\n
