Hi families!
One of the best parts of my role as Curriculum Coordinator is meeting new parents and having the chance to talk about what makes our school such a special place. Choosing the right preschool is a big decision, and I know it often comes with lots of questions. I thought it might be helpful to share some of the most common ones I hear from families, along with my answers, so you can get a clearer picture of who we are and what we value.
We know that every family’s schedule looks different, so we offer flexible enrollment options. In addition to full-time, we provide a school-day program that runs from 8:00–3:00, as well as two- and three-day schedules for those who need part-time care. No matter which schedule you choose, you can feel confident that your child will always be in a nurturing environment with teacher-to-child ratios that follow Texas state licensing standards.
When it comes to meals, we take the guesswork out of your day by providing breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. We don’t serve red meat or pork, and vegetarian alternatives are always available so that every child can enjoy healthy, balanced meals. Just as important as nutrition is outdoor time, and our children get plenty of it—two sessions a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each lasting 30 minutes, for a total of one full hour outside every day.
Our approach to guidance and discipline is rooted in positive redirection. Instead of focusing on what children can’t do, we encourage them toward better choices, helping them build confidence, empathy, and problem-solving skills. This philosophy carries into everything we do, including our extracurriculars. Because we are an all-inclusive school, there are no extra fees for enrichment programs. Each week, children enjoy Spanish, Music, and a Gym program, all led by professional vendors who come directly to our school.
For consistency and to ensure that every child gets the most out of their day, we ask that children arrive by 10:00 a.m. Safety is also a top priority for us. Families enter the building using their own personal code, and a team member is always stationed at the front desk to greet visitors and check IDs. Every classroom is equipped with two cameras, and our glass doors and walls make each space visible at all times. Children are also signed in and out daily using the same family code, adding another layer of accountability.
To make mornings easier for you, we provide wipes, so all you need to bring are diapers or pull-ups, two extra changes of clothes, a blanket if your child prefers one at nap time, and a leak-proof water bottle.
Finally, families often ask if all Kids ‘R’ Kids schools are the same. While we share the same values and philosophy, each location is individually owned and operated. That means programs and offerings may differ. What makes our school unique is that we have an on-site owner, Ms. Malak, who is actively involved in daily operations, ensuring that the quality of care and connection with families remains strong and personal.
