Choose a Safe SPF<\/b><\/h4>\n

SPF in sunscreen measures protection from the sun\u2019s UVB rays. It\u2019s important to choose a sunscreen with an SPF between 30 and 50 for optimal protection. There are many sunscreen options out there, but The EWG (Environmental Working Group) site has a<\/span> helpful guide<\/span><\/a> for choosing a safe sunscreen for your little one. Remember to reapply sunscreen every 80 minutes and after spending time in the water. \u00a0(Maybe stay away from the<\/span> glitter sunscreen<\/span><\/a> for now.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Drink Plenty of Water<\/b><\/h4>\n

Don\u2019t just play in the water to keep cool; drink a lot of water, too! Your children sweat like crazy after long hours under the sun, so make sure everyone is staying hydrated. Don\u2019t let your little ones think water is boring; drop some fruit into the water bottles for an extra-tasty treat or whip up a pitcher of<\/span> watermelon agua fresca<\/span><\/a> to keep your crew hydrated!<\/span><\/p>\n

Accessorize Appropriately<\/b><\/h4>\n

Who says \u201ccrazy hat day\u201d fun can only be had at school? \u00a0Let your little ones keep their faces shaded from the hot sun with fun hats, or even have a fun party and decorate baseball caps for the summer. \u00a0Don\u2019t let your preschooler spend too much time outside without their sunglasses; little eyes also need protection from the harmful rays of the sun!<\/span><\/p>\n

Take a Break<\/b><\/h4>\n

Make sure you pick out a shady spot at the pool or under a tree at the park so your children can take a break from the sun between games of freeze tag. You can re-apply sunscreen, take water breaks, and re-energize for the next round!<\/span><\/p>\n
