Time for Spring Cleaning: How To Involve Your Preschooler

at Kids ‘R’ Kids Oakbrook, preschool, daycare, childcare

With spring cleaning coming up, you may be surprised to hear your preschooler is not too young to participate! Not only is it a chance to teach household responsibilities, they can actually help you with your to do list.

One way to involve your preschooler is with an age-appropriate but helpful chore chart!

What are some tasks you can pass on to your preschooler? Some ideas for preschool-friendly chores are putting away toys, helping load laundry, helping mop or wipe up spills, watering plants, dusting (nothing breakable, of course!), and more.

After assigning new chores to your preschooler, try cleaning by room.

You can take on the adult chores while also supervising! Maybe you can vacuum while they dust off a table. In the kitchen, you can sweep while they mop up behind you. And wouldn’t laundry be easier with a helper passing you what needs to be loaded next, or to help pair up socks?

For an extra special spring cleaning, spend a day dedicated to cleaning along with your preschooler.

Make it more than a cleaning day by playing music, celebrating completing tasks, and having fun snacks for breaks!

With some preparation, supervision, and companionship, spring cleaning will be more enjoyable by involving your preschooler. Your child is ready to be a helping hand. Have fun, and happy cleaning!
