Summertime has arrived! If you’re planning a family vacation, you may be stressing about how to prepare, what to pack, and how to keep your preschooler occupied while you’re on the road. Whether your trip is short or long, we have the best tips and tricks to make your travel day fly by! Check them out!
Comfort is key when you have a long travel day ahead. Soft fabrics, fuzzy socks, and an extra blanket or sweater in your bag will keep you cozy and content as you hit the road.
Bring your preschooler’s favorite item.
Consider packing your child’s favorite blanket or stuffed animal in their suitcase or carry on. Traveling somewhere new for the first time can cause feelings of uneasiness. However, a small piece of home will provide your child with a sense of familiarity and comfort in case they’re feeling homesick.
Pack a snack!
Remember to prepare and pack easily portable snacks. Some great options are Tupperware containers of fruit, protein packed granola bars, or trail mix. These snacks are easy to pull out in the car and will tide your tot over until the next meal.
Bring a treat—but make it a healthy one.
Treats are a great way to keep your child content, but you may want to avoid sugary sweets as much as possible. A sugar rush plus two hours sitting still in the car equals one unhappy camper. So, as long as you keep the sugar to a minimum, your travel day will be a success.
Whether you’re beach-bound or heading for the mountains, these tips will keep your youngsters happy as you make your way to your vacation destination. Happy trails!
