As summer winds down and the school year approaches, why not start some new family traditions to say goodbye to summer? Below are some simple ideas.
- Get your preschooler excited for school by grabbing a school supply list and taking them shopping! Your toddler probably loves getting new things and getting to choose their own supplies or clothes will be the icing on the cake.
- Allow your preschooler to choose one of their favorite movies and have a special movie night as summer ends. The nights of staying up late are dwindling, so let them enjoy their favorite movie and special snacks one last time. Bonus points if they sleep in the next morning!
- Have a water day at home. Put those hoses, water tables, kiddie pools, and swimming suits to good use one last time! If you have neighborhood friends, you can collaborate on the water day with them and make it even bigger.
- Check out the clearance section at your local stores and grab some good end of summer deals. Most stores are trying to get rid of summer inventory right now. You can come up with a fun activity by using things you find on clearance.
- Make a photo book or scrapbook of the summer. Almost every adult has a cell phone nowadays and about every parent has tons of pictures of his/her child engaging in all kinds of fun. Use your favorite pictures to create a memory book together.
- If you are up for it, take an end of summer day trip somewhere new, or enjoy one last weekend away.
No matter what you choose to do, having fun together is the most important thing. Here’s to an amazing end of summer!
