What Your Preschooler’s Teacher Wishes You Knew

Preschool Teachers at Kids 'R' Kids Missouri City, preschool, daycare, learning academy

Your toddler may  be starting school for the first time. The first day of preschool can bring tears of both joy, sadness, and anxiety because you are separating from your child for an extended amount of time. You’ve done countless hours of research on this preschool, and you know that your kiddo will receive a superb education. However, that doesn’t mean that the transition from having your toddler at home to being in a classroom is easy.

 The Transition Period

The transition period may take longer than you think, especially if this is your child’s first time ever being separated from you for a few hours. Just know that this transition period is completely normal and does not usually happen within a couple days. This is a challenging time for both you and your child, and your child needs to know that everything is going to be okay. When dropping your kiddo off at preschool, make sure squeeze them extra tight and tell them that you will be back in the afternoon. This will help calm their nerves, and make the day hopefully go by faster for them. Although this is a tough time to go through as a parent, you need to show your child that you’re okay!

 An Every Day Routine

Since your child was spending most of their time at home with you, it’s likely that you two had a steady routine. Because this whole school thing is so new, your child is just getting adjusted to all of the changes that come with being a big kid. Once they’ve become more acclimated to a routine, their nerves will calm down and they’ll be able to focus and pay more attention in class. It’s definitely a process, but they will begin to love preschool once they have that routine down!

 Teachers Love Your Kids

Your teacher is your child’s biggest advocate. Sure, maybe your child’s teacher disciplined your child because your kiddo was quite the chatter-box. This doesn’t mean that your teacher is targeting your kid just because of who they are. They truly care for your child’s emotional and physical health and wants what is best for them. Sometimes this is shown through tough love, but please know that it’s all in good intentions.

 Keep calm and learn on!
