April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring\u2026RAINBOWS!\u00a0 Spring is the perfect time to engage your preschooler in all sorts of fun rainbow themed activities.\u00a0 Here are a few ideas you can try right now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Make a prism<\/span><\/h4>\n

Many craft stores and dollar stores sell prisms that you can paint with your toddler.\u00a0 When the paint is dry, hang it in a window that receives direct sunlight and watch the rainbows dance across the ceiling, floor, and walls with your child.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sort the colors<\/span><\/h4>\n

Gather multiple colors of beads, buttons, feathers, or a mixture of small items.\u00a0 Lay out one piece of construction paper for each color of the rainbow.\u00a0 Have your preschooler put each object on the piece of paper that it matches.\u00a0 After they finish, you can mix it up and let them do it again or draw a rainbow on a separate sheet of paper and help your preschooler glue items of each color to it to create a three-dimensional rainbow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eat the rainbow<\/span><\/h4>\n

Who knew rainbows could be delicious?!\u00a0 One easy and fun way to make a rainbow is by using different kinds of fruits and berries.\u00a0 It is a great way to identify colors and fruits and possibly eat something new.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Identify colors<\/span><\/h4>\n

Have a conversation with your toddler about things that come in different colors.\u00a0 Point out that the sky is blue and ask them to identify something else that is blue. \u00a0 For more advanced kids, you can discuss how some things come in more than one color, like apples.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Play a game<\/span><\/h4>\n

A familiar game that most toddlers love is \u201cI Spy,\u201d and it can be played anywhere.\u00a0 How great that it already incorporates the colors into the game!\u00a0 Go through and \u201cspy\u201d something from each color of the rainbow.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eating, sorting, painting, playing a game, no matter what you choose, have a wonderful, colorful time with your child this spring!<\/span><\/p>\n
