Spaceships, stars, planets, astronauts\u2026what\u2019s not to love about outer space?\u00a0 Preschoolers are naturally drawn to the subject.\u00a0 Why not try some of these activities to pique their interest?<\/span><\/p>\n

Make a spaceship.\u00a0 No, not a real one, a cardboard box one.\u00a0 Let your child design the outside of it with paints or markers.\u00a0 Then, help him find some disposable items to glue to the outside like aluminum pie plates or any other shiny object you don\u2019t need to keep around.\u00a0 Fashion the flaps of the box into wings and let his imagination soar with him into the Milky Way!<\/span><\/p>\n

Learn a catchy saying or song together<\/span><\/h4>\n

There are dozens of methods available for learning the names of the planets together.\u00a0 Some are interesting sentences or poems.\u00a0 Others are songs with lyrics put to familiar tunes.\u00a0 Find one together and memorize it for fun!<\/span><\/p>\n

Read books<\/span><\/h4>\n

This one might sound a little dull to some people, but children love visiting the library and exploring all the available books.\u00a0 The children\u2019s section should have many books about outer space.\u00a0 Make sure you borrow a variety of fiction and nonfiction picture books to enjoy together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Take a tour<\/span><\/h4>\n

You may be fortunate enough to live in an area that has a space museum or attraction nearby.\u00a0 What a great way to get a more hands-on, real-life experience of outer space.\u00a0 Many museums offer special discounted or free days throughout the year, so keep checking on it!\u00a0 If you do not live near a space museum, that\u2019s ok!\u00a0 By doing a little research online, you may be able to find a virtual tour to take or maybe an interview with a real astronaut or many other space related things.\u00a0 Take advantage of the technology right in your home!<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you just want to try one of these ideas, try them all, or come up with more of your own, have a BLAST exploring outer space with your preschooler!<\/span><\/p>\n
