{"id":169000000322,"date":"2021-06-01T10:38:10","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T15:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kidsrkids.com\/mableton\/?p=169000000322"},"modified":"2021-06-01T10:38:10","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T15:38:10","slug":"hot-days-cool-treats-for-preschoolers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kidsrkids.com\/mableton\/2021\/06\/01\/hot-days-cool-treats-for-preschoolers\/","title":{"rendered":"Hot Days, Cool Treats for Preschoolers"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-image wp-image--no-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-169000000323 \" src=\"https:\/\/kidsrkids.com\/mableton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/169\/2021\/06\/shutterstock_508616332.jpg\" alt=\"Hot Days, Cool Treats for Preschoolers at Kids 'R' Kids Mableton, preschool, daycare, childcare\" width=\"1000\" height=\"685\" \/><\/figure><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Summer is upon us with its beautiful colors, fresh air, and bright sunshine.\u00a0 Because there is more sunlight, there is more time to head outdoors and work up a sweat.\u00a0 This is the perfect recipe for a cool treat!\u00a0 Below are three easy treats for you and your preschooler to make and enjoy together.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ice cream in a Bag<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This yummy treat only requires five ingredients- half and half, salt, ice, vanilla, and sugar.\u00a0 You will also need 2 Ziploc bags (make sure they are good quality bags so that the salt does not get into the inner bag).\u00a0 Pour one cup of half and half, 1 \u00bd teaspoons of vanilla extract, and one tablespoon of sugar into a small Ziploc bag.\u00a0 Seal it well making sure any excess air is removed.\u00a0 Fill the large Ziploc bag about halfway with ice.\u00a0 Add \u00bc cup salt.\u00a0 Place the small bag inside the larger bag and top off the larger bag with ice.\u00a0 Seal the large bag.\u00a0 Wearing oven mitts or gloves, shake the bags for six minutes.\u00a0 Remove the small bag and rinse the outside completely, especially near the seal.\u00a0 Mix it up, add toppings of choice, and enjoy!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fruity Popsicles<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You will need popsicle molds, popsicle sticks (if the molds do not already have some), water flavoring packets, bottled water, and fruit.\u00a0 Add the water flavoring packet to a bottle of water and shake.\u00a0 Place a few pieces of your frozen fruit in the popsicle molds.\u00a0 Pour flavored water over it until full.\u00a0 If you need to add popsicle sticks, do that.\u00a0 Then, place in the freezer until solid.\u00a0 When you are ready to eat them, rest the mold in some warm water in the sink for a minute or two before removing them.
