If you love the Halloween holiday, you and your preschooler have likely begun to plan for Halloween as soon as the temperatures began to drop after Labor Day weekend! You may have already started chatting about what costumes you will wear, and maybe you snagged that early bag of candy corn to share on the way home from the grocery store. You might also be on the lookout for Halloween-themed crafts to fill rainy afternoons with fun memories!<\/span><\/p>\n

Halloween and harvest celebrations<\/span><\/h3>\n

Halloween traces its roots back to the harvest festivals of Celtic Europeans and the celebration of All Saint\u2019s Day by early Christian communities. Even though most people no longer live in agricultural communities, Halloween remains a beloved holiday. Neighborhoods often host parades and festivals with creative costumes and trick-or-treating counted as favorite family traditions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Halloween crafts with your preschooler<\/span><\/h3>\n

You can enjoy celebrating the Halloween holiday with your preschooler as you work on simple crafts together, whether during a rainy afternoon or not!<\/span><\/p>\n

String Necklaces<\/span><\/h4>\n

Find some black and orange colored beads, or any beads that evoke the sights and feelings of Halloween and fall harvest, and use a ribbon or some string to create one of a kind necklaces. Have fun with the combinations and then share with a friend!<\/span><\/p>\n

Craft Creatures<\/span><\/h4>\n

Put all those leaves piling up in your front yard to good use by turning them into Halloween creatures! A pair of googly eyes, a construction paper top hat, and some pipe cleaner limbs can provide hours of fun when paired with you and your child\u2019s imagination!<\/span><\/p>\n

Paint Pumpkins<\/span><\/h4>\n

Pick up a few small pumpkins at your grocery store and then dig out some finger paints or markers. Well-placed decorative flourishes can turn plain orange pumpkins into friendly Jack-o-lanterns!<\/span><\/p>\n
