The colder weather that winter brings usually means less time outside and more time inside. Some look at that as a loss, but others know how to make the best out of any situation. Try the following simple activities and enjoy this winter together with your preschooler!
Create A Mock City For Toy Cars
If you have toy cars laying around at home, gather up any spare cardboard boxes and disassemble them into flat shapes. Tape these shapes together until you have one big slab of cardboard, then cover it with a sheet. You and your preschooler can decorate your pretend-cityscape with roads, signs, and landmarks, before breaking out the toy cars and letting them explore the landscape.
Put On A Play
Helping your child create their own play teaches patience through collaboration, while also increasing confidence when performing on stage. This could range anywhere from singing favorite songs to making up dialogue between stuffed animals. The possibilities are endless but above all else put the emphasis on having fun. This activity alone will teach children about teamwork, and subconsciously teach them story writing techniques through practice.
With the right activities, winter can still be an exciting time for you and your preschooler.
