Valentine’s Day is such a fun holiday to celebrate with our preschoolers! The colors, candy, and crafts mean there are endless activities to participate in leading up to Valentine’s Day. Here are some of our all-time favorite ways to celebrate on February 14th!
The Story of St. Valentine
Kick off your Valentine’s celebrations by telling your child the story of St. Valentine. Despite his difficult circumstances, St. Valentine showed unbelievable kindness to everyone he encountered. This story will provide meaning to the holiday for you and your preschooler beyond sweets and love notes!
Cookie Decorating
A classic Valentine’s activity, cookie decorating never gets old. For a fun spin, set up a cookie decorating bar and invite over some friends and neighbors! Sharing this activity with loved ones will make it much more special.
Homemade Valentines
Instead of store-bought valentines for school, consider making homemade ones! This will be a fun and practical activity for you and your preschooler. Do a quick internet search to get your creative juices flowing or come up with something on your own!
Kindness Jar
Find and decorate a jar with your preschooler that you designate as the “Kindness Jar.” Throughout the month of February, have your family put notes into the jar saying kind things about one another. On Valentine’s Day, empty the jar out and read the notes. Everyone will feel so loved, noticed, and appreciated!
This Valentine’s Day we hope you’ll try out some of these activities with your family. It is our wish that you will have a wonderful, meaningful Valentine’s Day creating memories alongside those you love most!
