Preschoolers and National Guitar Month

Preschoolers and National Guitar Month

April is National Guitar Month and there’s no better time to teach your child about music and different instruments! Needing some tips on how to do this? Keep reading for some fun ideas!

Check and see if your little one’s preschool is doing anything to celebrate National Guitar Month. If not, try and plan an event! Check with local guitarists in the community and see if they wouldn’t mind coming out to teach a class about the guitar and play a few songs!

Another way to introduce your child to music is to host a music class! This doesn’t have to be anything elaborate! A music class can simply be a few friends and their children getting together to explore different instruments. No instruments? No problem! A Tupperware bowl  can serve as a drum, an old cereal box with a hole cut out of the middle and rubber bands stretched across can be a guitar – the possibilities are endless! Making your own instruments is easy and fun!

If you really want your child to learn about music, you can sign them up for guitar lessons or lessons on any other instrument! Your child’s preschool may be able to put you in contact with a music teacher or if not, many YMCAs offer music lessons!

Learning about music can be an investment, but it is a hobby that will last a lifetime. Share the gift of music with your preschooler this spring!
