Are you wondering what to do with your leftover pumpkin decorations and jack-o-lanterns when Halloween is over? Do not let them go to waste with these fun upcycling ideas!<\/span><\/p>\n

Eat Your Pumpkin<\/span><\/h4>\n

Before you cut out your jack-o-lantern face, scoop out the seeds and roast them. If you are painting your pumpkins, roast them after Halloween. Scoop out a roasted pumpkin and make your own puree to use in pies, muffins, soups, or other yummy pumpkin recipes. Baby Pam, Autumn Gold, Ghost Rider, New England Pie Pumpkin, Lumina, Cinderella, and Fairy Tale varieties are the best tasting if you plan to eat your pumpkin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Feed Pumpkins to the Animals<\/span><\/h4>\n

Do you live near a farm, zoo, or animal sanctuary? Check with those places and see if they would like your pumpkins to feed their pigs, chicken, or livestock. If you live in an area with wildlife nearby, you could cut the pumpkin into pieces and leave them outside for the animals. Only unpainted pumpkins should be given to the animals. Paint contains ingredients that are toxic to animals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Make a Pumpkin Bird Feeder<\/span><\/h4>\n

You will need a pumpkin, a knife, some sticks or dowel rods, some rope, a thumb tack, and some bird seed.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Cut the top off your pumpkin and discard. You will want to cut about one third to almost one half off the top.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Scoop out the seeds if you have not already done that.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Insert a few sticks or dowel rods through the sides of the pumpkin to create perches for the birds.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Cut two pieces of rope the length you will need for hanging.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Knot the two pieces of rope together in the middle.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Use a thumb tack to secure the rope knot to the bottom of the pumpkin.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Turn it over, fill with bird seed, and hang outside.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Enjoy watching your bird visitors!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Whether carved or not, there are many ways to upcycle pumpkins after Halloween that can benefit you or wildlife.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
