Thanksgiving Activities for Preschoolers

Thanksgiving Activities for Preschoolers at Kids 'R' Kids Keller, preschool, daycare, childcare

Is your preschooler getting restless on their Thanksgiving break? There are plenty of fun activities for your little one to do this Thanksgiving to keep them busy and happy for the entire holiday.

Baking

Everyone knows that one of the greatest parts of Thanksgiving is the wonderful food! Children can have just as much fun baking or cooking as an adult can—maybe even more. Bake a traditional dessert like pumpkin or pecan pie or have them decorate sugar cookies with autumn colors and sprinkles. Let them help mash potatoes, or add marshmallows to the sweet potato casserole! Chances are, your little helper will be more willing to try foods that he helped make!

Family Pictures

Autumn is one of the best times of the year to get some beautiful family pictures and send them to all your family and friends. Dress up in fall colors and spend the afternoon taking photos that you can look back on for years to come—bring the dog too, and you’re sure to get some great candids!

Outdoor Fun

With cooler weather and bright skies, the possibilities for entertainment outdoors with your children are nearly infinite. Have some fun at a pumpkin patch and carve pumpkins, or go apple picking and finish the day with some tasty apple cider. You don’t even have to leave your front lawn for outdoor fun—rake up some fallen leaves and let your kiddos play in the piles—they’ll run and play for hours!

Crafts and Games

From Thanksgiving Bingo (printables available online) to pumpkin seed crafts, your little one will love these Thanksgiving games and crafts. All you need is some pumpkin seeds, paper, and some markers, and your child can design his own pumpkin seed tree. Have your preschooler color a good amount of pumpkin seeds, and then draw a large tree on some paper. Glue the pumpkin seeds onto the paper as colorful leaves, and voila—a beautiful tree to put on the fridge!
