Seasonal Changes: Springtime with Preschoolers

Seasonal Changes: Springtime with Preschoolers

After three months spent mostly inside with your preschoolers, the moment the sun pushes through the clouds, you’ll be ready to get outside!  Get your supplies ready to go so you and your preschooler will have everything you need when it’s time to get outside.

  1. Go on a nature scavenger hunt and look for baby bunnies, ducklings, ladybugs or buds of flowers.  Help your preschooler hunt for the first signs of spring!
  2. Spring is the perfect time to plant seeds and watch them grow!  When your new seedlings are ready, move them to the flower bed or garden.
  3. Read Birds, Nests and Eggs with your preschooler and then go bird watching!  This book has great craft ideas to complete with your child!  Dye eggs or make a bird feeder to hang in your yard.
  4. Play bubble games with your child’s neighborhood friends.  Keep a backup jar of bubbles on hand to play with your preschooler.
  5. Read outside.  Let your child’s imagination grow while you spend time reading outside on a picnic blanket with her favorite books.
  6. Make a water cycle discovery jar.  While you’re stuck inside due to spring storms, help your preschooler learn more about the water cycle and why there are clouds, rain, and water puddles!
  7. Pick wildflowers.  Spring time is the perfect time to drive out and look for wildflowers.  Find an old country road to roll the windows down, turn up the music, and find some beautiful wild flowers.  Don’t be afraid to pull over on the side of the road to pick some of your favorites with your preschooler!

Help your child welcome the new season and spend time outdoors with these fresh, spring activities!
