Fun Ways to Celebrate National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month With Your Preschooler

It’s National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month, and it’s the perfect time to get your preschooler excited about eating their fruits and veggies! As a parent, you know how important it is to provide your child with a balanced diet, but it can be difficult to get them to eat their fruits and vegetables! That’s why it’s important to make the experience fun and engaging. Here are three fun ways to celebrate National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month with your preschooler.

First, show your preschooler where their food comes from

Go to a berry picking farm, or an apple picking orchard. You and your preschooler will have a fun and refreshing day picking your own fruits and vegetables, and enjoying the other attractions available for families at these farms! Not only will this be a fun activity, but it will also help your child learn where their food comes from. If there are no farms in your area, a farmer’s market can be just as fun and enriching!

Second, create a healthy snack board

Help your preschooler fill a paper plate or even a poster board with drawings of a variety of fruits and vegetables as a fun art project! Once your healthy snack board is finished, you can let your child point and choose what they would like to eat. This will help them feel more agency and become more interested in trying new foods.

Finally, make food prep fun and interactive.

Let your preschooler help wash the fruits and vegetables, collect the ingredients, stir, and most importantly, taste test the recipes. This will help them become more invested in the food they’re eating and give them a sense of accomplishment!

By following these tips, you can make “National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month” a fun and exciting time for your preschooler. Eating a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables is essential for their growth and development, and it’s fun and educational to explore the wonderful world of fruits and veggies. So get creative and make mealtime fun for your little one this month!
