Easy Cookies to Bake With Your Preschooler

Easy Cookies to Bake With Your Preschooler at Kids 'R' Kids Highland Glen, preschool, daycare, childcare

It is exciting to walk into a home and smell cookies baking in the oven! This aroma would excite most children. The one thing that would make things even more wonderful for your preschooler is the privilege your child can have to help in the baking endeavor.

Here are some easy cookies to bake with your preschooler.

Sugar Cookies

Amy, from Bellyfull, shares a sugar cookie recipe that only requires three ingredients. You will only need 1 c. unsalted butter, 2/3 c + 3 tbsp granulated sugar, 2 c + 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (1 tsp vanilla, optional). Amy gives many bonus tips and pointers for making the sugar cookies as yummy as possible.

Ready to Go Cookie Dough

There is no written (or unwritten, for that matter) parenting rule that says you cannot use the “ready-to-bake” cookies with your child! Whether it is a time factor, or the desire for more ease to bake with your child, there are many good brand options for baking cookies that are not from scratch. Both Pillsbury and Nestle (as well as any store brands) make for good options to use. You and your preschooler can use cookie cutters to make fun cookie designs. To your child, these cookies are “homemade!”

Decorating Cookies

Whether you have baked cookies from scratch or from a package, you and your preschooler can enjoy icing the cookies together. Check out Sally’s Baking Addiction online for a recipe to make icing. The article is called Easy Glaze Icing for Decorating Cookies. The ingredients are 3 c. confectioners’ sugar, ½ tsp pure vanilla extract, 2 tsp light corn syrup, 4.5-5 tbsp water, and a pinch of salt. Your preschooler will love getting to decorate cookies!

Your preschooler does not care about the “perfect” type of recipe or ingredients. Whether you choose the homemade or store-bought route, the end goal is the same. It is all about spending time with one another, and of course, the yummy treat at the end!
