The meaning behind this love-filled holiday is one of happiness and gratitude, and these are the two most important emotions to continuously emphasize when explaining the holiday to your child.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Because many people have different variations of what it means to celebrate Valentine\u2019s Day, you can choose what kind of emotions and traditions your preschooler will tie to this special day. While love is an endearing term that can be easily used around family, your child will very likely be involved in some kind of Valentine\u2019s Day activities at school. It is in these situations you can explain the correlation between loving someone and caring for someone. You can help your preschooler decipher the two by using siblings, pets, grandparents, etc., as examples of love, versus classmates, friends, and teachers as examples of people your child cares for.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wherever your child is on the spectrum of understanding Valentine\u2019s Day, it is crucial to remain consistent with the idea of expressing love and care through kindness. Kids should be encouraged to be a good friend and nice to others all the time, and Valentine\u2019s Day can be used as a refreshing reminder of this notion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remember that you might be the most important valentine in your child\u2019s life!
