Saint Patrick liked blue.<\/b><\/h3>\n

Saint Patrick liked a light shade of blue that was known as \u201cSaint Patrick\u2019s blue.\u201d Green wasn\u2019t introduced to the holiday until it was linked with the Irish Independence Day, but you still need to wear green to avoid getting pinched!<\/span><\/p>\n

Leprechauns guard their gold.<\/b><\/h3>\n

According to Irish lore, Leprechauns earn the gold at the end of the rainbow that they\u2019re guarding. It\u2019s no wonder they guard it so carefully\u2014we would too!<\/span><\/p>\n

Saint Patrick isn\u2019t Irish!<\/b><\/h3>\n

Saint Patrick was actually from Wales! He just ministered to the people of Ireland, so that\u2019s why we celebrate it as an Irish holiday. Next time you read about Saint Patrick, imagine his voice with a British accent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Four-leafed clovers are rare.<\/b><\/h3>\n

Your chances of finding a four-leafed clover are about 1 in 10,000. That\u2019s why they say it\u2019s a sign of good luck!<\/span><\/p>\n

The first St. Patrick\u2019s Day parade took place in 1760 in New York. That was over 250 years ago, and the tradition is still going strong today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chicago dyes its river green.<\/b><\/h3>\n

In Chicago every year, the Plumbers Local 100 Union dyes the river green. It takes over seventy tons of dye to color the river, and it lasts about five hours. That\u2019s a lot of dye!<\/span><\/p>\n
